Race Route
View the route for 2011
The
route starts at the Chester Racecourse and heads north up New Crane
Street before coming round and under the famous City Walls onto
Northgate Street. You will pass through the heart of the City, past
the Town Hall and the Cathedral to run under the Eastgate Clock.
Passing the Roman Amphitheatre your route leaves Chester across the
Old Dee Bridge.
From here the route heads towards the countryside and the
picturesque village of Eccleston. Entering Wales, the route is
along rural lanes to the village of Holt. Here the spectators will
be out in force as you cross over the medieval sandstone bridge to
Farndon on the English side of the border. You will follow the
course of the River Dee, passing through Churton and Aldford.
On your return you run along the Groves riverside boulevard,
lined with spectators and bands to entertain you for the last leg.
The spectacular finish on the racecourse is right in front of the
Grandstand.
